On Intentions

2/20/25

Why does it matter whether a consequence
comes about accidentally or deliberately?

I'd argue that intentions matter,
even as outcomes vary,
because understanding
the spirit in which
something was done
defines how one
ought to move forward
and what to move towards
and/or away from.

Friend or enemy?
I think about someone who hurt me
pretty bad, repeatedly.

By mistake, I could forgive;
accidentally, I could forget.
Believing it was so, I did
again and again
and yet, it was when
it became undeniable that
I was being hurt intentionally,
that I knew for sure and unquestioningly
to pull the plug of my entangled heart
from its electric socket,
evict this person from my life,
close the door and lock it.
